Komara Midi 2

A multi use skimmer with two banks of oleophilic discs which can be quickly and easily changed for brush cassettes to handle more viscous oil.

The KomaraTM Midi 2 is a highly portable oil recovery system which has been designed to recover a wide range of oil types.  The system includes a multi-head skimmer with interchangeable disc and brush cartridges, floating transfer pump, powerpack and associated hoses and floats.  The system will operate in most environments including very shallow waters and will recover oils efficiently at 20m3/hr.

Due to its compact size, the KomaraTM Midi 2 can be used in almost any inland and shoreline areas including ports and harbours, waste oil pits, beach operations, inland waterways, ponds, lakes, marshes, mangroves and any similar environment where oils are required to be removed from water.

Features:

  • The Midi 2 will operate as a disc skimmer or a brush skimmer, allowing the operator to select the most efficient recovery mode
  • The skimmer has two banks of discs/brushes, providing a large inlet area for oil to be captured
  • The skimmer can be converted from discs to brush (and vice versa) in less than two minutes in the field without the need for special tools
  • The skimmer discs operate smoothly even at low speeds, giving more than 98% oil pick-up, which effectively eliminates the need for costly separation or disposal of dirty water
  • The disc scrapers are manufactured from a specially designed flexible polymer, which precisely follows the contour of the disc and ensures that even the lightest of oils are recovered very efficiently
  • The brush mode is effective for heavy oils and achieves high recovery rates with low water pick-up
  • The pump rating is 15m3/hr and the system oil recovery rate is 20m3/hr
  • The diesel powerpack is extremely efficient and incorporates important safety features to ensure it is safe in an oil spill situation
  • All components have been built with durable, lightweight materials, making it a very compact system
