Marine Services Co-ordinator
A Fitter and Turner by trade with a background in maintenance fitting, Peter has been working in the marine industry since 1992 when he started with Maritime Safety Queensland (MSQ), Marine Operations section, as a Navigation Aids Technician where duties included maintaining oil spill response equipment owned by Queensland government and Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA). Using experience gained from looking after response equipment Peter moved to MSQ’s Marine Environment Protection Unit where he gained experience and a thorough knowledge of marine oil spill response equipment, equipment maintenance, response tactics and operations employed with in Australia.
In his current role as Marine Services Coordinator for OPEC Systems he maintains the equipment within the four AMSA stockpiles OPEC manages in a ready state. The involvement he has had over the years has provided him with a wealth of experience in oil spill response throughout Australasia and he is keen to pass on this knowledge to others.
