Challenges/solutions:

Day-to-day Pacific National rail activities were to continue for the duration of the works. OPEC managed to keep the assets available for operation. OPEC identified multiple maintenance issues with the fuel storage systems at all sites, these issues were addressed by designing pragmatic solutions which were approved and implemented. Other issues include the remediation of tanks during extreme wet weather conditions.

Innovations:

OPEC developed protocols and strategies to allow these works to be undertaken with minimum disruption to day to day PN rail activities. The primary long term benefit of the project was the extension in the lifespan of the aged infrastructure.
