OPEC Systems was delighted to provide one of the first AMSA Natplan basic equipment operators oil spill response pilot courses this month in Brisbane.
The three day course, generously hosted at Maritime Safety Queensland’s (MSQ) operations base at Pinkenba, was attended by approximately 20 participants.
These participants came from a variety of organisations including MSQ, the Port of Brisbane, the Gold Coast Waterway Authority, as well as local industry.
OPEC has been associated with the development and delivery of the AMSA accredited course over the past six months, with this Brisbane course officially launching the roll out of AMSA Natplan package.
The course has been developed under the guidance of AMSA, utilising subject matter experts from a variety of different contractors. The Basic Equipment Opeators course has been specifically tailored to be a practical hands on course, offering participants who will be exposed to first strike oil spill response activities, a solid foundation to response options.
