OPEC provides Security and Fire Fighting Services to NSW Ports’ Bulk Liquid Berths

The 1st of July 2014, marked another chapter of the OPEC Systems Marine Division’s ever increasing capacity to service the Maritime Industry within NSW. After two intensive months of delivering training and core competencies, OPEC Systems commenced operations in Port Botany, for NSW Ports, in its latest labour services contract.

The contract delivers the provision of Labour Services (Security and Fire Fighting functions) for NSW Ports at the Bulk Liquids Berth in Botany Bay and is responsible for providing skilled and trained officers in a 24/7 capability across the two commercial berths (BLB1 and BLB2). Staff are responsible for and oversee facility access control, hazardous cargo transfers, fire fighting systems management and facility management tasks at both berths.

OPEC has invested in up-skilling staff to undertake the 24/7 operation with the flexibility and capability to deal with the ever challenging shipping schedules. After gaining its Master Security licence, OPEC Systems is able to offer similar services to the Maritime Industry to cater for access control and hazardous facility management.
