Exercise Sea Dragon 2012

OPEC Systems was pleased to be involved in Exercise Sea Dragon Phase 2, a co-hosted Exercise by the Department of Transport (DOT) and AMSA, which was held from 5 to 7 June 2012 in Western Port, Victoria.

The exercise enabled participants to trial the latest supplies in shelter technologies, with 4 types of shelter being transported and show cased during the exercise. “It gave participants the opportunity to familiarise themselves with all the latest innovations with shelters from both Alaskan Shelters and Immediate Response Technologies” Adrian Hawes commented.

“We took the opportunity to refresh National Response Team member's shelter knowledge with Connor Walsh leading teams in establishing of decontamination stations within the Forward Operations Base (FOB) at Somers Yacht Club”. “It was really surprising to see the reaction of participants who familiarised themselves with the products. I think the majority people were expecting primitive tents, but to their surprise, they found themselves walking through state of the art, climate controlled insulated shelters with power and lighting”.

On display for the two days were:
  • A 32ft Blue Med Alaskan Shelter with ECU
  • The NSW Maritime Mobile Decontamination trailer shelter
  • Two Immediate Response Technologies Decontamination Shelters.
